How to use this finder

From Class 12 subjects to a shortlist

  1. Select your Class 12 stream. If you studied a vocational or unusual combination, choose Vocational / Other Stream and tick your subjects.
  2. Read the eligibility label on each card. “Generally eligible” means your subjects match the usual requirement; “Eligibility varies” means institutions set different rules; “Additional subject required” names the subject you would need.
  3. Narrow the list. Search by programme, specialization, career or exam (for example MBBS, BCA, NEET or nursing), and filter by field, programme type, duration, exam, Mathematics, Biology, study mode or eligibility status.
  4. Open programme details and compare up to three. Save programmes to come back to them on this device.
  5. Verify before you apply. Check the institution’s current prospectus, the regulator for regulated degrees and the official entrance test notification.

FAQs

Undergraduate eligibility questions

Which programmes can PCB students study without NEET?

Many PCB options do not use NEET-UG, for example BSc programmes in Biology, Zoology, Botany, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Forensic Science and Nutrition, many allied health degrees such as BPT, BSc MLT and BSc Optometry, BSc Agriculture, as well as any-stream degrees such as BBA, BA, BCom, BJMC, BDes and five-year law. MBBS, BDS and AYUSH degrees use NEET-UG, and some states also use NEET-UG for nursing, pharmacy or veterinary seats. Entrance rules vary by state and institution, so check the current prospectus.

Which programmes are available after PCM?

PCM students commonly look at BTech/BE, BArch (with NATA or JEE Main Paper 2A), BPlan, BSc Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science and Data Science, BCA, BSc Nautical Science, BFTech, BPharm, BSc Agriculture, economics and actuarial programmes, and every any-stream degree such as BBA, BA, BCom, design, law and hospitality. PCM students need Biology for MBBS, BDS and nursing.

Can Commerce students apply for BCA?

Often, yes. Many universities accept any stream for BCA, but some require Mathematics (or Computer Science) at Class 12 and some add a bridge course. Commerce with Mathematics students meet the Mathematics condition; Commerce without Mathematics students should check the Mathematics requirement in the prospectus.

Can Arts students apply for management programmes?

Yes, BBA and most BMS, hotel management, tourism and five-year integrated management programmes are usually open to any stream. Some BMS, business analytics and economics-heavy programmes require Mathematics, so Arts students should check whether Mathematics is needed.

Is Mathematics compulsory for BCA?

There is no single rule. Mathematics for BCA is institution-dependent: some universities require it, others accept any stream, and some offer a bridge course. Always check the current prospectus of the university you are applying to.

Can PCB students apply for engineering?

AICTE norms list Physics and Mathematics as compulsory for BTech/BE, so PCB students without Mathematics usually need Mathematics as an additional subject. A few institutions admit PCB students to specific branches such as biotechnology, sometimes with bridge courses. JoSAA and state counselling apply their own rules.

What can PCMB students study?

PCMB keeps both science routes open: everything usually open to PCM students (such as engineering, architecture and mathematical sciences) and everything usually open to PCB students (such as MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, nursing, allied health and life sciences), plus any-stream programmes. Entrance tests such as NEET-UG, JEE Main or NATA still apply.

Are online undergraduate degrees recognized?

UGC regulations treat online and distance degrees from entitled institutions as equivalent to campus degrees, but only for programmes and sessions that UGC-DEB has approved for that institution. Professional programmes such as medicine, engineering, nursing, pharmacy, law and architecture are not offered through online or distance mode. Check the UGC-DEB list before enrolling.

How should students verify programme eligibility?

Read the current prospectus and admission notification of each institution, check the regulator for regulated degrees (for example NMC, INC, PCI, COA, BCI, AICTE, VCI or NCTE), confirm the entrance test bulletin (such as NEET-UG, JEE Main, CUET-UG, CLAT or NATA), and note category-wise minimum marks and age limits. This finder is a starting point, not an admission decision.

What is the difference between a degree, major and specialization?

The degree is the award you receive, such as BSc, BA, BCom or BTech. The major is the main discipline you study within it, such as Physics in a BSc or Economics in a BA. A specialization is a focused area inside a major or professional degree, such as AI in BTech CSE or Taxation in BCom. Universities name these differently.
